We asked if there was another room available and the general manager moved us to a two story townhouse in room 501, which we were entitled to in the first place due to the globalist status. They ultimately gave us room 517 which is surely the worst room in the entire hotel, moldy, near construction at the neighboring property. They poured us “American champagne” as a welcome drink which is pretty tacky but was nice regardless. We arrived at 4:30 and were told they were running late so guaranteed check in was not available. As a globalist, was entitled to guaranteed 4pm check in and a standard suite upgrade if available. This time I stayed as a globalist with my free category 7 night award. The first time was a lovely experience in a standard ocean view room back when they still had wood burning fireplaces - they no longer have that in any room. THE ROOMS ARE STUCK IN THE EARLY70'S AT BEST AND SINCE HYATT TOOK OVER - BAD NEGLECT APPARENT ACROSS THE ENTIRE PROPERTY.… were I you - Avoid THIS PLACE ALTOGETHER! OVERPRICED, FALSELY ADVERTISED AND PITIFUL SERVICE OVERALL. We left at 930am one of the days, there was a card on the door" sorry we missed you" - then once i got them on the phone they lied to us, said well the people next door called too and we had to get to THEM front desk and management also pitiful - playcated me on the phone and asked me to "call back" once I was able to give up the room for cleaning. Housekeeping was a joke and they didn't even show up for two days. They advertised a full view of the horizon, which was more blocked than visible. Floors in the room were fithy with spots of dirt and smudge in more thane place. the room looked like you were in a leftover trailer park from the 1970's - and this after they claimed " you are so lucky, this is one of our newly renovated rooms"! screens were bent in the window leaving room for flies to come in. Thank You, Hyatt.…Īmong the worst places Ive ever stayed. Reminded me a lot of those at Post Ranch Inn. The happy hour at the Sunset Lounge was the best value of our trip. We really appreciated having firewood so readily available in the parking lot. I think it was the cleanest multi property spa I’ve ever used. The grounds are beautiful and the maintenance staff were out early and throughout cleaning the hot tub (also seen from my room) and replenishing towels. We had our windows ajar and wood burning in the fireplace. We could eat the sea lions bark at night along with the waves. From my balcony (210) we had an incredible view of the ocean and daily mist. The studio was beautiful and efficient with sliding doors for privacy when we had an overnight guest. We needed some packing tape for a box going to the airport and the front desk attendant took care of us. From the moment we arrived until we rushed out (at 4:30 AM) the employees were kind, professional and thoughtful. What a dream it’s been to stay at the Highlands Inn.
